Mike Hemiller, Ag/Commercial Banker, AVP with Northwest Bank in Milford, successfully completed the 2022 Iowa Bankers Association’s Commercial Lending School held October 3-7 in Ankeny.

The school is an intense one-week program sponsored by the Iowa Bankers Association.  The purpose of the IBA Commercial Lending School is to prepare commercial lenders who have not been exposed to formal commercial lending education or lenders who want to broaden their commercial lending knowledge to serve effectively and profitably as commercial loan officers.  This is accomplished by developing a better understanding of the economy and how it affects the lending decisions; developing an understanding of how a business is structured and how it competes; develop and understanding of the role of company’s management and how to analyze and evaluate that management; develop a thorough understanding and application of basic and advanced analytical techniques; and develop an understanding of relationship banking to meet and maintain multiple customer financial needs.

Mike is a graduate of Winona State University with a degree in finance.  He has served as an Ag/Commercial Banker with Northwest Bank for nearly five years.  His responsibilities include new business development, promoting the bank’s products and services and serving existing customers.

Northwest Bank is a $2.2 billion community bank that offers a full line of business, agricultural, mortgage, consumer deposit and lending services as well as wealth management and insurance services. Northwest Bank has offices located in Algona, Ames, Arnolds Park, Ankeny, Estherville, Fort Dodge, Humboldt, Le Mars, Milford, Sioux Center, Sioux City, Spencer, Spirit Lake, West Des Moines, Iowa and Omaha and La Vista, Nebraska.
